A note about the identifier parent property in Reed-Solomon codes

چکیده
Codes with traceability properties are used in schemes where the identification of users that illegally redistribute content is required. For any code with traceability properties, the Identifiable Parent Property (c-IPP) seems to be less restrictive than the Traceability (c-TA) property. In this paper, we show that for Reed-Solomon codes both properties are in many cases equivalent. More precisely, we show that for an [n, k, d] Reed-Solomon code, defined over a field that contains the n – d roots of unity, both properties are equivalent. Also, we show how the strategy we propose can be applied to other cases by proving the equivalence of both properties for a particular code of characteristic 2. This answers a question posted by Silverberg et al. (2001, 2003), for a large family of Reed-Solomon codes. a 2010 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

A general construction of Reed-Solomon codes based on generalized discrete Fourier transform
In this paper, we employ the concept of the Generalized Discrete Fourier Transform, which in turn relies on the Hasse derivative of polynomials, to give a general construction of Reed-Solomon codes over Galois fields of characteristic not necessarily co-prime with the length of the code. The constructed linear codes enjoy nice algebraic properties just as the classic one.

متن کاملOn the relationship between the traceability properties of Reed-Solomon codes
Fingerprinting codes are used to prevent dishonest users (traitors) from redistributing digital contents. In this context, codes with the traceability (TA) property and codes with the identifiable parent property (IPP) allow the unambiguous identification of traitors. The existence conditions for IPP codes are less strict than those for TA codes. In contrast, IPP codes do not have an efficient ...
متن کاملSome new results on equivalency of collusion-secure properties for Reed-Solomon codes
A. Silverberg (IEEE Trans. Inform. Theory 49, 2003) proposed a question on the equivalence of identifiable parent property and traceability property for Reed-Solomon code family. Earlier studies on Silverberg’s problem motivate us to think of the stronger version of the question on equivalence of separation and traceability properties. Both, however, still remain open. In this article, we integ...
متن کاملNotes on Reed-solomon Codes
Reed-Solomon codes are examples of error correcting codes, in which redundant information is added to data so that it can be recovered reliably despite errors in transmission or storage and retrieval. The error correction system used on CD’s and DVD’s is based on a Reed-Solomon code. These codes are also used on satellite links and other communications systems. We will first discuss the general...
